Art Faire to award $1,800 in prizes
Clayton area artists are invited to compete for $1,800 in prizes in the 12th annual Clayton Art Faire. Applications are available here.
Clayton Visual Arts, sponsor of the competition, will present three “Margaret Ritchie Memorial Awards of Excellence” of $600 each to the three works judged best in show in September.
Three Honorable Mention ribbons also will be awarded, as well as a People’s Choice award of $25. Judging will be done by an art professional from outside Clayton.
Last year’s winners were David Simonton and Anthony Ulinski of Raleigh and Doug Strickland of Benson.
Entry deadline is Friday, Aug. 20, and entry fee is $20.
All entries will be part of a month-long exhibit Sept. 1-30 in the lobby of The Clayton Center.
Prizes will be presented Sept. 2 at a reception at the center honoring participating artists.
Entry forms may be found online at the Clayton Visual Arts website, www.claytonvisualartsnc.org, and at the Johnston County Arts Council website www.johnstoncountyarts.org.
Entry brochures will also be at The Clayton News-Star, 109 Ellington St., at the Clayton Area Chamber of Commerce, 301 E. Main St., and at the Coffee Mill, 105 S. Lombard St.
